Rush City
Church of the Sacred Heart is a rural parish of the Archdiocese of St Paul/Minneapolis situated at the northern boundary of the archdiocese. The church is located at the intersection of Field Avenue and 4th Street in Rush City. A church was built here in 1870 and it was one of the first churches in Minnesota north of the Twin Cities. The present church building, which is the third in this location was completed 101 years ago. Priests who resided here took care of the spiritual needs of communities as far as Hinckley, Franconia and Forest Lake.
This parish today is surrounded on all the three sides by the dioceses of Duluth, St Cloud and Superior. This vibrant community comprises of approximately three hundred families that live in Rush City and surrounding areas like Harris, Rock Creek, Stanchfield, Braham, Pine City and North Branch. The Sacred Heart Men’s Club, The Circle of Catholic Women and the Youth Group are very active in the parish. The parish offices are located at 415 W 5th St, Rush City, MN 55069.
