News:
Casino Night was a great success. Thanks to everyone who was part of it. It was such a good time, we are hoping to make this a twice annual event so the lake people can be a part of it, too!
Fr. J's new office is coming together. Walls removed, carpet in, desk and phone in place. We are just waiting til the spring thaw to install the new doors to Marilyn's office and the social hall.
Brenda's new office is all in place with the wall in place and the library moved to the South entry by the Church. We will need help gettng a desk moved from Linda Trowbridge's house to Brenda's new office.
Future Building Projects:
The church ceiling has been repaired and should hold for years to come when we will need a permanent solution.
120 Light fixtures in the building will need replacement this year as bulbs for them will no long be made. This will be a nearly 10 thousand dollar expense.
The Social Hall ceiling is suffering neglect and needs repairs and painting. This is planned for the summer while PreSchool is out of session. The lighting fixtures should be installed before the Social hall is repainted.
We are completely out of storage space. So, we are investigating building a new shed.
The new Parish museum will wait to be installed until the Social Hall is complete.
Future Pastoral Programs:
The live Way of the Cross is returning this year. Salvador Nieves is leading the project.
We are planning for a youth retreat this summer to be hosted at the parish, hopefully in June. Miguel Munoz is working on the project.
Fr. J. will start a series of adult education classes in English on Wednesdays and Spanish on Tuesdays, twice a month in each language. We will start with Theology of the Body.
Fr. J. will offer a reading club on Flannery O'Connor's short stories some time during the summer. He is thinking of meeting on a weekday evening at the St. James in Avilla.
Remember to pray for the Cardinals as they prepare to elect a new pope and a new era in the Church begins.
