Ministries

Lectors
The ministry of the lector is to proclaim the scriptures to the assembly gathered each week, allowing all to hear the Word that will shape their lives. Formation and trainig are provided for new lectors and materials are available to help them prepare for this ministry. A lector is usually scheduled every five to eight weeks. Please call the Joan Berner (323-1163) if you are interested in this ministry.

Eucharistic Minister
Eucharistic Ministers distribute communion during Mass, to the care facilities and to our homebound members. A strong personal faith is core to one who serves in this ministry. Formation and training are provided for new Eucharistic Ministers several times throughout the year. Ministers are scheduled approximately every four to six weeks. Parishioners interested in ministering as Eucharistic ministers should contact Joan Berner (323-1163).

Ministers of Hospitality
Whenever people gather together, there is a need for a host to make everyone feel welcome. This is the ministry of our greeters and ushers. The greeters arrive early to greet parishioners and guests and pass out worship programs if needed. They may also handout bulletins to the people as they leave. The ushers also greet people as they help them find a place to celebrate the liturgy. They also take up the collection and makes sure the environment is ready to go for the next liturgy. Please call Joan Berner (323-1163) if you are interested in this ministry.

Altar Servers
This ministry is available to youth of our parish in 3rd through eighth grades. Formation sessions are held to prepare persons for this ministry in the fall. Adults may be formed as acolytes and serve at funeral masses. Contact Fr. Dan (323-2916) if you are interested in this ministry.

Music Ministry
These ministers assist the assembly in sung prayer at our parish liturgies as cantors, accompanists, members of ensemble groups, and instrumentalists. The children's choir (K-8th grades) ministers on special occasions of each month. New youth and adult ministers are welcome at any time. Contact the parish office (323-2916) for further information.

Liturgy of the Word With Children Children's Liturgy of the Word is a celebration of God's presence in the Word, following guidelines established by the Bishop's Committee on Liturgy. This celebration follows the same form as the Liturgy of the Word for adults, but uses age appropriate language and experiences. It is offered to children K-5th grades during the 11:00 Sunday Mass. Adult leaders of the Word are welcomed and are offered formation and training. If you are interested in this ministry please call Fr. Dan(323-2916).

Funeral Ministry
In the funeral rites of the church, we celebrate the mystery of Christ. Arrangements for the funerals are made with the funeral director and the pastor. It is the intention of the priests, staff, and all members of Queen of Apostles Parish to be as helpful as possible during the difficult time of a funeral for a family member. The family has the opportunity to meet with the presiding priest and the Liturgy Coordinator in planning the vigil service, funeral liturgy, and burial. The Altar & Rosary Society is prepared to serve a funeral luncheon for the family of the deceased in our Parish Hall. Parishioners are also encouraged to inform the rectory of the death of any family member, especially non-members of the parish and request that prayers be said for them at all Sunday Masses.

Prayer Line
Ministers of the Prayer Line form a "prayer chain" network with each other to pray on a daily basis for individuals requesting specific intentions. People are asked to call Winnie at 328-0868 with your needs of prayers due to illness, death, or personal requests of need or thanksgiving! If you want to be a minister of prayer and be part of this chain please call Joan Berner at 323-1163.
