MISSION STATEMENT: Our goals have been developed to promote the emotional, social, cognitive and physical development of each child. St. Joseph's Preschool was developed based on the philosophy that each child is a unique individual with a variety of interests, needs and abilities. ENROLLMENT: To children ages 3 to 5 on a first come first served basis. Four year old children must be four (4) by August 1. All children must be potty trained.
TUITION, PAYMENT DUE DATES, DISCOUNTS: Tuition is $55.00 per month for the 3/4 year old class. Tuition is $65.00 per month for 4/5 year old class. Tuition is due on the FIRST OF EACH MONTH. Make checks payable to Saint Joseph's Preschool. No refund will be made for illness or vacation taken by family during the school year.
If your payment is late we will send a reminder home on the 15th of the month. If tuition is not received by the 30th, then child/children will not be able to attend until account is brought current.
We will offer a 10% discount to families that have 2 or more children enrolled in the preschool.
DAYS AND TIMES OF CLASS: The 3/4 year old class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 11:00 am. Class size will be limited to 12 students. The 4/5 year old class will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 - 11:30 am. Class size will be limited to 15 students.
If the morning classes are full, and we have at least 8 children registered, an afternoon class will be added for that age group. Times for those classes are 3/4 year old: 12:00 to 2:30 pm and the 4/5 year old: 12:15 to 3:15 pm.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP: There will be a teacher outside to greet the children upon arrival and take them from the cars. The teacher will also put the children in their cars when they leave. There is no need for you to leave your car unless you arrive late. If you need to pick your child up early, please feel free to park in front of the church and come in.
You will be asked to provided a list of people who have permission to pick up your child. Your child will NOT be released to anyone that is not on the list without written permission from a parent. Please inform the teacher if there are any changes to the list. It is the parent's responsibility to arrange PROMPT pick-up for the child.
CURRICULUM: We are using Saxon Early Learning which is also used in the Lakeland School Corporation for Kindergarten and First Graders. This curriculum will cover math, science, art, social studies, language and social skills and emotional, physical and health development.
CLASSROOM NO-NOS: No play weapons or violent toys will be allowed at the preschool. Please do not send toys to preschool, except on Show and Tell Day. Chewing gum is not allowed.
DISCIPLINE: Participation and cooperation is encouraged. Redirection and brief separation from group activities (time out) will be used in instances where a teacher may need to correct a child. Parents will be notified of any unusual behavior or problems.
RESTROOMS: Each child must be able to use the restroom on their own. This is for our protection as well as your child. If your child is prone to accidents, please provide a change of clothing in their book bag.
CLOTHING: Children should dress in play clothes that allow for easy movement. If your daughter wears dresses or skirts, please use tights or shorts underneath. Gym shoes are best for preschool play. Slip on shoes, sandals, boots and dress shoes are not recommended. Please send extra clothing in case of an accident.
SICKNESS: If your child is running a fever or vomited the night before school, please keep him/her at home. We would like to keep from spreading viruses as much as possible. If your child comes down with chicken pox, strep throat or something very contagious, we would like to know as soon as possible. If your child becomes ill at preschool, the parent/emergency contact will be notified.
LICE: If any child comes to school with head lice or nits, the child's parents/emergency contact will be notified to come and pick the child up. The child will not be able to return until treatment has been complete. Please notify the teacher if your child has lice, so that she can notify the other parents. Names will be kept confidential.
SNACKS AND BIRTHDAYS: Your child will be asked to provide snack/juice or milk at least once a month. We suggest healthy snacks. Your child will have a chance to celebrate their birthday. If your child's birthday is during the school year, we will celebrate it on that date or the closest date. If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate an UNBIRTHDAY during the school year.

SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS: We follow Lakeland School Corporation for weather cancellations and delays. Listen to Thunder Country (105.5) for cancellations. If there is a two hours delay, morning classes will start at 10:00 am and end at the regular time. Afternoon classes will be held at the original starting time, unless school is cancelled. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
