Institute for Ministry Formation
Institute for Ministry Formation
to Adopt Flexible Approach to Formation
In January 2006, and after completing a successful Discernment Year, the Institute for Ministry Formation has announced a more flexible, user-friendly program for anyone in ministry. New candidates will be asked to participate in a workshop on Theological Reflection before taking any courses. In addition, during the first year of participation, candidates must complete a day on Called and Gifted, the United States Bishops statement on lay ministry. A workshop on an Introduction to Scripture must be completed prior to any scripture courses.
The following courses will be offered this year in Tallahassee, Pensacola and the Middle of the diocese: Ecclesiology, New Testament and Morality/Catholic Social Teaching.
Participants will have six years to complete the basic courses and workshop requirements and must participate in the annual retreat for a certificate of ministry formation.
