Founded in 1948, St. Monica Parish has grown into a vital force in Chicago`s Norwood Park area on the city`s northwest side. With 2,200 registered families, the parish boasts one of Chicago`s leading Catholic schools (3 yr old Preschool - 8th grade), and a faith community that continues to grow in its involvement not only in the church itself, but also in the wider community.
St. Monica`s has a wonderful tradition of highly-involved parishioners who not only participate, but also assume leadership roles, in a myriad of activities and ministries for all ages. This tradition of involvement has placed St. Monica`s as a potential leader in our neighborhood and in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
St. Monica`s draws many visitors during the holidays because of its long tradition of beautiful arts & environment. Near public transportation, and only a ten-minute drive from O`Hare Airport, St. Monica`s is conveniently located for conventioneers and other visitors to Chicago`s northwest side.
St. Monica`s current building, dedicated in 1988, was the first fully accessible church in the Archdiocese of Chicago. All areas, including the sanctuary, are ramped, and the door handles are levers rather than knobs.
