Little Saint Ann`s is a parish of considerable cultural variety and richness considering its relatively small size among the parishes of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Located very near the Cathedral and Downtown, right by Chinatown, nextdoor to East Los Angeles, and around the corner from several old, well-established Los Angeles County neighborhoods, St. Ann`s embraces in its liturgies, prayer groups, Parish Council, and general activities such as its Fiesta in early October, a wide variety of family cultural and linguistic backgrounds and traditions. Liturgies on a regular basis at St. Ann`s are in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Thai. Hymns are also sung in Tagalog (Filipino) at English Masses. Because of this variety, clergy of varied backgrounds assist the parish staff. Because of the centrality of its location, St.Ann`s embraces in its parish membership a microcosm of the variegated Los Angeles Catholic Church, both culturally and socio-economically. Small in physical size but great in cultural proportions, St. Ann`s is a little jewel in the crown of the United States` most populous metropolitanate. |
