New Jersey is threatened by the prospect of the legalization of same-sex marriage. Sadly, many Catholics, especially the young, see same-sex marriage as being socially acceptable and opposition to it as bigotry. The Church’s position is very clear on this matter: we should reach out to those with same-sex attraction but should not condone homosexual practice. In addition, the Church strongly defends marriage as between one man and one woman.
In order to make the Church’s position clear and explain its reasoning, the New Jersey Catholic Conference with funding from the Knights of Columbus, has produced a short video on marriage. The video concludes with a statement by the Most Reverend John M. Smith, Bishop of Trenton .
