To proclaim God’s Word as a reader is a special privilege. You have the opportunity to use your God-given gift in a way that can move the hearts of those who hear it. You share in a long tradition in our Church of proclaiming God’s Word to the community. Readers are given a copy of the “Workbook for Lectors” containing all of the readings for a given liturgical period and the SEAS “Lay Reader Handbook” that takes you step by step through the process of preparing yourself and your reading. The frequency of reading depends on the Sunday Mass you choose and your availability to read on Holy Days. There are fewer readers scheduled for the 11:30 am Mass so there are more opportunities to read. On average, readers read once a month. All are given the opportunity 5 times per year to select or change your primary Mass, request to read on certain days, or decline to read during periods when you may not be available. Every effort is made to develop a schedule that meets your needs.
