The Blood Drive
Coordinator: Susan Mania
Donating blood is an important life-saving deed. There is no substitute for human blood. One in three people will need blood sometime during their lives. Men, women, and children, including cancer, transplant and surgery patients, trauma victims and newborn babies, and many others need blood transfusions each day. All are our brothers and sisters in Christ.
There are many ways that we can help each other, but blood donation requires just a small sacrifice and provides the opportunity to give a part of one's self to save the life of another.
Blood Drives are held four times a year. Stop by after Mass. you'll be asked some basic information, a brief medical history will be taken and then the blood donation can begin. Afterwards, you will rest and be served refreshments. Within one hour, you will have helped a person in need.
Members of the ministry assist parishioners with registration after Masses the weekend before the blood drive. We provide a hospitality area, where donors can enjoy coffee, juice and homemade baked goods after donating blood. This is also when we can talk to the donors, getting to know each other and share stories. All are welcome to share in the day.
