Elijah`s Promise Soup Kitchen
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish has been supporting Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen in New Brunswick, NJ, since 1998. Twice a day on weekdays and once a day on weekends, the soup kitchen serves free, nutritious meals to those in need.
Volunteers serve an average of 300 meals daily to guests of the soup kitchen, who include mothers with young children, elderly men and women, me and women who are unemployed, others who are working but can't make ends meet. Poverty does not discriminate; guests are male and female, young and old, and various ethnicities. Guests of the soup kitchen are served in an atmosphere of hospitality and dignity, and no one ever leaves Elijah's Promise hungry.
About five (5) times a year (in the months when there is a fifth Tuesday), members of the SEAS Soup Kitchen Ministry purchase, prepare, and serve the dinner meal to 250 guests of the Soup Kitchen. A dedicated group of folks gather at the SEAS kitchen on the Saturday before the fifth Tuesday to prepare the meal; others transport the food to the soup kitchen; still others prep and serve the meal.
It provides a wonderful opportunity to use your culinary skills to help others, or to join the guests at the Soup Kitchen and see how much they enjoy and appreciate the good will extended by so many caring people.
