ADULT BAPTISM, CONFIRMATION, FIRST EUCHARIST OR BECOMING CATHOLIC THE RCIA: RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS Journey in Faith
If you want to become a Roman Catholic or complete your Initiation into the church, the RCIA is for you! Through weekly sessions, non-Christian adults are prepared for Baptism, Confirmation and first Eucharist, and non-Catholic Christians are prepared for Confirmation and first Eucharist, which takes place during the Easter Season. For more info, contact Sr. Margaret Muller via the parish office. Adult Catholics needing Confirmation should also contact Sr. Margaret for more information.
This four step process is designed to welcome new members into the Church. It is a process for anyone desiring to know more about our Catholic way of serving the Lord. The RCIA is for the unbaptized, the baptized non-Catholic and the Catholic preparing for the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. The RCIA team consists of a Director, Sponsors, Sharers of the Word and involved parishioners who are willing and anxious to share their faith with those seeking to make a profession of faith within the Catholic community. The RCIA process is conducted on Sunday mornings in the Parish Center following the 8:00 am liturgy.
The RCIA is a process through which new members are welcomed and received into our Catholic faith community. In order to have people respond to an invitation, an invitation must be extended. That means we, all of us, must reach out and invite. Sadly, we were remiss in 2007, and no new members were initiated into our parish community. Together let us make an effort to reach out, invite and accompany those who might be seeking a new way of being with their God. We have something special. Let us spread the Good News! Have you, a friend or spouse expressed interest in the Catholic faith? Adult Faith Inquiry is an informal way to come, get acquainted, ask some questions and see if this is the time and the place to respond to Jesus’ invitation to “come and see.” The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a process that enables people of faith to explore God’s invitation, grow as disciples and journey towards the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) You may reach Sr. Margaret at 908-782-1475 x 14; 908-823-0750; or margaretpbvm@juno.com.
RCIA ~ INQUIRY SESSIONS
Soon, we will begin Inquiry sessions ~ the first step in the RCIA process. We continue to extend an invitation to “Come and see” to anyone who might be searching or discerning if the Catholic faith is a way to commit more deeply to the call of Jesus. If you, or anyone you know, who is interested in learning more about the process, please connect with Sr. Margaret at 908-782-1475 x 14 or margaretpbvm@juno.com.
Be assured that Inquiry sessions are a time to listen, to share and to be open to the Spirit of God. Commitment to the process may follow in the weeks and months ahead.
