Cantors

The cantors of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton currently consist of 14 men and women who share their musical talent by singing the Lord's praises and leading God's people in song.  It is a special privilege and ministry to which each of our cantors has been called.  Our cantors have been asked to serve in this ministry because they have a special skill in their ability to sing.  As music ministers, cantors have the opportunity to use their God-given gift, not only to literally 'sing' God's Word in the psalms and other biblical-based hymns, but also help God touch the deepest chords of the human heart by helping His people sing the psalms, hymns, and canticles of joy, sorrow, thanksgiving and petition, praise, and anguish.  In this role, our cantors share in the long tradition of our church of "praying twice"--as Saint Augustine described prayer in song.
