Mission Statement "Ignorance of Scripture is Ignorance of Christ" (St. Jerome).
As Catholic christians, it is essential that we read and study scripture so we can know Christ. therefore, bible study is essential in our adult faith formation program at SEAS.
In SEAS bible studay, we utilize the Great Adventure Catholic Bible learning system. While reading the Bible can be difficult, this program simplifies the process by identifying the 14 books of the Bible that tell the story of salvation history from beginning to end. The cornerstone of this program is the Bible Timeline chart which arranges the key people, places and events in the Bible in chronological order and shows how all the books of the Bible fit together to tell the story of salvation history.
This program is designed for those who are new to bible study. It teaches the story of salvation history in a way that is easy to remember and helps you continue to read the bible on your own. You will understand how the Old Testament relates to the New Testament and how the scriptures apply to your personal life. You will benefit from a greater understanding of the readings at Sunday Mass. The camaraderie that is experienced in the study groups is an added bonus of the program.
All programs consist of individual reading and study, group discussions and lecture commentary. All programs take place in the SEAS parish center and includes both a morning and evening session. For specific times and dates, please refer to the individual programs listed under this heading on the website. Refer to this website if you forget when a session is.
For all programs, the New American Bible is required. For both the Great Adventure Timeline Program and the Matthew Program, you will also need the Catechism of the Catholic Church. In addition, study materials need to be purchased. Please contact Diane Luceri to sign up for a study and to order the required study materials.
