IHN HAPPENINGS
Attention All Parish IHN Host Volunteers
and Interested Parishioners
Tuesday evening, Nov. 17, 2009, 7:00-8:30 pm, Rooms D and E.
Renee Farrell, Executive Director of Interfaith Hospitality Network, Somerset County will conduct a training session which will cover policies and procedures and reminders and protocols regarding staff support for volunteers. We will discuss general information and guidelines which host volunteers should follow when taking precautionary measures for health safety purposes.
The presentation should take approximately 45 minutes, followed by a question and answer session. This is a great opportunity for current evening, overnight and morning hosts to participate in training. We also invite any parishioner who may be interested in becoming an IHN host volunteer to come and learn . . .
Mark the dates on your calendar, next hosting is
December 27th thru January 2nd.
Please note, the IHN guests will stay on site all day January 1st.
A lot of helping hands are needed that entire week to ensure all tasks are covered.
If you are a current parish IHN volunteer, please contact your coordinator ASAP and let them know you can assist. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact the coordinator in charge of the task you wish to assist.
Availability of hosts will be critical throughout the week, especially for daytime hosting on New Year’s Day. The more volunteers we have, the shorter each host’s shift time will be during the daytime hours on that day (7:00 am to 5:00 pm). We are hoping no one has to host for more than 2-3 hours.
We are also looking for volunteers interested in providing some holiday cheer and entertainment especially for the children.
Calendar Year 2010 Hosting Schedule:
February 7-13, March 14-20, May, 16-22, June 13-19, October 3-9, and December 5-11
IHN Pin Sales
We will display Window House, Little People, Angel and Heart pins at our table in the Narthex before and after all Masses November 21st and 22nd.
Each pin costs $15.00, and half of the sales proceeds directly benefit IHN.
You can make your payment by cash, or by check payable to IHN of Somerset County.
These make really great holiday gifts!
The pins are provided to IHN by Designs by Lucinda.
Lucinda was once homeless and was able to pull herself out of homelessness and achieve financial independence through the creation of her house pins.
You can see her pins and read her inspiring story on her web site at: www.lucinda.com.
