Jesuit Father, Thomas Acker, S.J., PhD is educationally retrofitting St. Joseph’s School for the Academic Year 2013 – 2014. Fr. Acker has his Doctorate in Biology from Stanford University and for eighteen years was president of Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia.
St. Joseph’s School is aligning the first eleven years of formal education into three phases:

Genesis: First formal learning – 3, 4, and 5 (kindergarten) year old children
Foundations: Early grade school, 1st – 4th grade
High School Preparatory: Final grade school years 5th – 8th

The mode of teaching and learning will also change. Teachers will rotate around the classes and teach principally in their specialties, Math, English, Language, Religion, Science etc. The generalist teacher will be largely supplanted. Each grade will have a patron/mentor.

Each phase has specific goals. For more information, please call the school at 330-628-9555.

You Did It for Me

Catholic Charities provided service to a grandmother and her young granddaughter, whose home was destroyed by a tornado. Through the support of Catholic Charities, they received a recently purchased home that needed some repairs, which were completed by a volunteer group.  When touring the new home, the young girl referred to it as the “Jesus Home.”  When asked why, she said that she had prayed to Jesus for a place to live and that he had answered her prayer.

Catholic Charities provided disaster-related services to more than 84,000 clients in 2016.
