You Did It for Me
In 2001, when Chipa* was just 7 years old, violence in her home country forced her to flee to a refugee camp in Zambia. She lived there for 8 years with little hope of a better future; after all, less than 1% of refugees are ever resettled. At 15 Chipa’s dreams came true when her application for resettlement in the U.S. as an unaccompanied minor was accepted. Through the help of a Catholic Charities refugee foster care program, Chipa was given a stable life that allowed her to complete high school and college.
