You Did It for Me



82 year old Jeannie* came to the U.S. in 1989 on a VISA status. She worked as a housekeeper for three decades. Years ago a lawyer told Jeannie that he could help her gain citizenship. He charged $2500. Jeannie paid, but she never heard from the lawyer again. Jeannie was afraid of being deported. One Sunday, she read in a church bulletin that Catholic Charities had an immigration services office.   She made an appointment. The case manager explained everything and walked Jeannie through the whole citizenship application process. Today she is a citizen.

Catholic Charities provided immigration services to 323,151 clients in 2015.
