You Did It for Me

During a post-disaster damage assessment, a local Catholic Charities agency visited the home of a 73-year-old disabled female, who was wheelchair bound.  Her back door had been blown away, four windows were broken and the front door was damaged.  Also, she couldn’t leave the house because the exit ramp had collapsed.  Her income was less than $900 per month.  Catholic Charities provided the funds for repairs, and volunteer labor did the work.  They also helped her enroll in the SNAP program and Meals on Wheels. During a conversation with her case manager, the woman tearfully relayed that Catholic Charities had restored her human dignity.

In 2016, 86 Catholic Charities agencies provided disaster services across the nation.
