About Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi

Visit website

St. Francis Cathedral Basilica is a Eucharistically centered faith community whose life is formed by our baptismal commitment to Christ, nourished by Scripture, Church teachings and the Sacraments, supported by membership in the worldwide Roman Catholic communion of believers, and is put into practice by our service and involvement in the world around us. It is a community with a long and rich history, where all are welcome, trust is present, risks for the Kingdom of God are taken, and where the gifts of everyone are called forth. Under the protection of La Conquistadora, Our Lady of Peace, and the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi,we strive to be instruments of peace and all that God calls us to be

You Did It for Me

Molly* was six when she and her two sisters entered foster care. Her mother had died four years earlier, the pain of which sent her father down a destructive path using drugs, abusing his children, and ending in prison. Catholic Charities Family Services in Molly’s town placed her and her sisters with a foster family. The stability gave them the support they needed to grow. Molly has finished college. She is a grade school teacher now. She also volunteers with Catholic Charities, helping older foster children transition into college. Molly is grateful to the Catholic Family team and wants to pay it forward: “Now I get to be the one to cheer a youth on.”
